I don’t have a personal motto but if I had to choose, I think “Life is too short to wear a boring bikini” is pretty spot on. As a personal stylist, it’s my job to encourage clients to try styles that are outside of their comfort zone so while there is a time and a place for a classic black two-piece, a holiday at the beach is ripe for a latina bikini with some bite. And nothing says fun in the sun more than the tropical prints and silhouettes of Agua Bendita. http://latkini.com/product-category/designers/agua-bendita-2/
Started over a decade ago by two best friends and handcrafted by local artisans, the Columbian purveyors of trendy bikinis have enlisted the help of some of the world’s biggest supermodels to show off their exclusive bikinis including Bar Refaeli, Irina Shayk, Candice Swanepoel, and Kendall Jenner. This year, they’ve brought Victoria Secret Angel Josephine Skriver on board as their campaign star for their latest collection of cute bikinis which, lucky for you and me, incorporates some of the best runway trends of the season. Here’s what I’m loving right now:
1. Off the Shoulder
If you couldn’t pry yourself out of your off-the-shoulder dress this summer, you don’t need to when you get to the beach. Agua Bendita’s off-the-shoulder model means you can keep the shoulder shimmying going in the sand. Unexpected details like beaded tassels and zigzag seaming in a rainbow of shades make this one a must-try on your next holiday.
My obsession with python prints ranges from booties to clutches so I was thrilled to see they had incorporated a saucy snake print into their range of latina bikinis. The neutral hues keep this often-wild print on the tame side but it’s the intricate beadwork by Columbian artisans that really excites me.
There isn’t a season that goes by where the runways aren’t overflowing with lush floral prints. These two blue and white floral numbers are anything but garden variety. In fact, there is something romantic and innocent in the simplicity of the print. Worn with something crochet or a soft white kaftan and you’ve got yourself the perfect beach ensemble.
I’ve never met a scalloped hem I didn’t like. Some think they’re cutesy – I think they’re cool (and so does French luxury brand Chloe – scallops are practically their signature). How to toughen up a scallop? Add a straw boater hat, cut-off denim Levi’s 501 shorts and a pair of gold-framed circle sunglasses.
